EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY POLICY

Statement Of Intent (2014)

@TheGlasgowJam (@TGJ), as an organisation, is committed to promoting, valuing and managing equality and diversity in all aspects of our work.

@TGJ does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or any other form of discrimination, and aims to implement this approach throughout all of our work.

@TGJ regularly reassesses our approach to equality and diversity. We endeavour to continue to learn and develop a specific action plan as a fundamental part of any future growth, particularly in moments we become
a) an employer / mentor of other artists,
b) facilitators in education contexts,
c) when working professionally with individuals with protected characteristics.

As an action plan for ongoing research into best practice in this area we commit ourselves to several ideas:

+ To continue to view Diversity as a widespread representation of all the individuals with whom we come in contact, and to celebrate this Diversity through participation and presentation wherever possible.

+ To view Equality and Diversity as essential elements of our work and as necessities that should already exist as industry wide standards of practice.

+ To continue to dialogue across cultures and language barriers, sharing information, learning and expertise through an open policy of exchange.

+ To consider accessibility, from practical and artistic points of view, as a crucial part of all creative endeavours and for it to have priority in early conversations in developing new projects.
