What is contact improvisation?

Testimonials from our jammers:
@TheGlasgowJam has helped me to explore my artistic dimensions, in a free and inclusive way. I've found myself using my body and voice in ways I'd never imagined: playfully, joyfully and exuberantly.

The usual feeling at the end of the jam is one of peacefulness, and I've found myself more in touch with my body and feelings in the following days. I love the feeling of safety and playfulness at jams, and of exploring how my body works.

@TheGlasgowJam, has been a wonderful community for me to be a part of as a professional dancer. Having trained vocationally in both Ballet and Contemporary dance, I found that little was offered or taught in regard to improvisation. I believe it is an integral part of creativity and enables dancers to investigate thoughts, feelings, ideas and their own bodies capacity for movement invention. This is a vital for professional work.

Participating in the jams has really helped me develop this area along with partner/contact work as it is a space where you can problem solve, trust, react and interact with others. The teaching, practice and understanding from the jam has undoubtedly facilitated me in gaining a company contract. When offered the job the Director complimented me on my improvisation. I will be forever grateful for having gained this skill—thank you @TheGlasgowJam!
